QiGong for Seniors

The health benefits of QiGong come from continued regular practice. Most medical studies have participants practice twice a week for 12 weeks to see measurable results. If you are serious about your health, make a 12-week commitment to yourself. You will see results if you give yourself the time.

DAO YIN ~ QIGONG (Chi-kung)

QiGong, classically known as Dao Yin or the way of yin, is an ancient practice to maintain wellness and well-being.

Yang energy is the energy that flows all around us, yin energy is the flow of energy within our body.

The practice of qigong seeks to regulate universal energy flow.

The regular practice of qigong has been shown to have many medical benefits, such as:

  • lowering high blood pressure

  • lowering high cholesterol

  • helping to regulate diabetes

  • decrease anxiety

  • improve memory

  • improve mobility

  • improve flexibility

  • improve balance

I am on a mission to spread the healing power of QiGong.

After living with chronic pain for 18 years, QiGong gave me back mobility and a life without pain.

The best way to learn more about QiGong is simply to experience it first hand.

Words cannot describe how you will feel after practicing this simple yet elegant exercise.

Most people are amazed that doing so little can yield such great benefits.

"I can't say enough good things about QiGong.

For the past several years, my blood pressure has been on a steady rise. My doctor thought I should start taking medication. I started QiGong instead!

I have been going to class 3-4 times per week for 4 months.

On my recent doctor visit, my blood pressure had dropped to 142/85. The lowest it has been in 3 years.

I also have more energy and better stability. So many health benefits from a simple exercise program.

I highly recommend it for anyone."

Released the Following Health Benefits about Yoga

Qigong has been called Chinese Yoga

and has been documented to have all of the same benefits

"Did you know yoga can do more than just strengthen and tone your body? Recent research shows it can have a powerful effect on your health—making it a perfect remedy for everything from heart disease to high blood pressure to anxiety and depression.

For years, yoga was considered a fringe practice embraced mostly by celebrities and "New Agers." But today yoga studios are cropping up all over the country, and millions of people are giving it a try.

You may already be familiar with some yoga moves such as downward dog and mountain pose, but yoga is more than that. It's a total mind-body workout that includes: postures (like tree pose), breathing practices, deep relaxation, and meditation that helps transform your health in dozens of ways.

Improve balance, flexibility, strength, and coordination

Reduce your risk of heart disease

Relieve migraines

Fight osteoporosis, MS, IBS, or fibromyalgia

Undo the harmful effects of stress

Relaxing breathing techniques you can practice anywhere so you can stay calm and release tension

That's not all. One study showed how yoga increased the flexibility of blood vessels by 69%, and even helped to shrink blockages in arteries without the use of medications!

Plus, the meditation component of yoga may even help to delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease and fight age-related declines in memory.

Why not give yoga a try and see how it can help your health?

"QiGong classes taught by Nia are simply awesome! She is extremely knowledgeable and is able to break down the information so it is easy to understand in order to apply the moves correctly.

I love the QiGong classes; the moves are so fluid and easy on your body.

I work out 3 times a week and before my workouts I always incorporate my Qigong moves. This has made a world of difference on my joints and after my workouts my muscles are less sore. I would highly recommend taking QiGong classes with Nia."

"I first started with Nia doing qigong at the beach in Westport, attracted at first to the wonderful beach location for some formal exercise.

What a surprise to find out how great qigong is for the mind and body (it became addictive).

Nia is a caring instructor who works carefully to ensure that her students are knowledgeable in the concepts behind qigong and exactly how it works on every part of your body.

Nia was also very helpful to me to arrange private sessions with a family member having back and body pain issues using a combination of qigong and kinesiology concepts."
